Before and After: Denim Shorts With A Splash Of Color

I have always loved my staple pair of distressed denim shorts, to the point where I may have slightly overused. Overused to the point where ripped turned to torn. So I decided not to throw my beloved denims away, rather add a hint of pink.

I experimented with a few different variations:

This was my favorite, not too much or little and slightly wacky.

Before and After: High-Waisted Piped Shorts

Here's an idea for another pair of shorts to add to your summer wardrobe. Pipe them. Not only do they look cool but also have a sort of nautical vibe, perfect for the current season.

I began with a pair of off-white capri's that I picked up at the thrift store for $2. After some bleaching, snipping and sewing I welcomed my new pair of shorts with open arms.

The inspiration for these shorts took place amidst last weeks episode of Jane By Design. I loved her shorts but decided to change the colors up a bit.

Hope everyone is having a great summer. Enjoy!

Before and After: Striped Crop Top

First off let me just say this fabric is insanely pretty, don't you think?

I began with this thrifted dress which had quite an awkward waist line. But I loved this fitting of the top half of the dress and knew it would be perfect as a crop top.

I had thrifted this dress at a second hand market for $2 a couple of weeks ago. One thing you ought to know about me is that I find it really strange wearing 2nd hand clothes unless I have cut them up in one way or another. Otherwise I just won't wear it.

So I cut it in half.

Then I decided to do a sort of fishtail effect by making the back a bit longer than the front.

I am incredibly pleased with the result but still am not sure what to do with the left over fabric, don't want to make it a skirt. Any ideas?

Before and After: French Knotted Skirt

I thrifted this dress from a 2nd hand market a couple weeks ago and only just got around to 'repairing it'. At the time I didn't think twice before buying it since it was only $4. But after trying it on I realized that the dress was incredibly ill-fitting and dirty at the top although it does look quite dainty.

But the main reason I had bought it in the first place was because I fell in love with the fabric, off-white and dotted with french knots.

So I removed the top half of the dress, added some elastic and turned it into this:

Still delicate, but actually fitting this time.

Before and After: Distressed and Bleached Denim Shorts

Based on the inspiration from my previous post my friend and I made ourselves some distressed and bleached denim shorts. Aren't they cool?

I began with these jeans:

And turned them into these:

Here is my friend's pair:

We followed this step by step video tutorial made by caffaccino. Enjoy!

Before and After: Perfectly Pink Pearled Shorts

Once upon a time I had this wonderful pair of white capris that I just adored. They were so versatile and made every outfit seem expensive. So you can understand how devastated I was when they turned pink in the wash, right? I hope so! Anyway, after hours and hours of trying to bleach them this horrible pink stain remained:

Finally when I overcame my great loss I decided to use the stain to my advantage and take on the obvious...

...To die them even pinker (specifically a color called the 'rose of Paris'!). Then I cropped them, then I cropped them even more. To finish off I sewed on the pearls and turned them into this perfectly pink pair of pearled shorts. Enjoy!
